A Los Angeles Satellite for Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity

Star_logo Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity on Oct. 30 will have its own L.A. version.

Organizers of a satellite event said today that they had secured the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles' MacArthur Park to hold the event, which is expected to feature several well-known local comedians and others. The specifics of Stewart's event in Washington have not been announced, but Comedy Central made the official announcement this morning that President Obama would appear on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" several days before the event on Oct. 27.

Plans are for the L.A. rally to feature a large screen to provide a live feed of Stewart's rally and, presumably, the Stephen Colbert portion of the event. (Officially, the two hosts have combined their events into one, now the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear."

The L.A. event is being organized by Amy Lee and Ashley Wright, and they have launched a fund-raising drive to pay for the event.

Comedy Central is not affiliated with the satellite rallies that are popping up in cities across the country. They said in a statement today, "While we're flattered by the  outpouring of enthusiasm for the 'Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear' and the way it has inspired satellite rallies across the country and globe, neither Comedy Central nor 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' or 'The Colbert Report' are affiliated with any rallies other than the October 30 'Rally to Restore  Sanity and/or Fear' on The National Mall in Washington,  D.C."

So far, 302,474 people have signed up on Facebook to attend, and another 150,000 have indicated that they "may attend."

They are great for getting comfy and watching television around the house, but they can also be taken with you to the game.

They are a fantastic way to showcase your pride and support for your team. Like the college Snuggies, they feature the logo and team name in a pattern all over the blanket, and will be in the team color as well.
