Roundup & Recap: Larry King Raises Money, Not Ratings

Telethon1 Larry King's telethon for the Gulf oil spill on Monday raised $1.8 million, boosted by a heavy social media component. But ratings for the two-hour telethon were not great, with it coming in fourth place (behind Fox, MSNBC and Headline News) and an average of 600,000 viewers, according to Nielsen.

Jon Voight's "open letter to President Obama" in the Washington Times is being passed around in Hollywood conservative circles. Voight writes, "You have propagandized Israel, until they look like they are everyone's enemy — and it has resonated throughout the world. You are putting Israel in harm's way, and you have promoted anti-Semitism throughout the world."

Robert Greenwald of Brave New Films is calling on Gen. Stanley McChrystal to resign and the producer-activist has launched a petition drive, saying that his comments reported in Rolling Stone have "undermined the Office of the President of the United States."

Be On the Lookout: Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees will perform with members of Congress at the Capitol Visitor Center as the MusicFIRST Coalition lobbies once again for the Performance Rights Act. Joining him will be Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) on guitar, Rep. Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) on drums and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) on keyboard, as well as others.
