Haim Saban on Harman: "No Idea"

Haim Saban was queried about his involvement in the controversy that's surrounded Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) As the story goes, Harman said she would try to intervene in an investigation of pro-Israeli lobbyists and in return Saban would withhold financial support for Nancy Pelosi if she failed to give Harman the chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee.

Tina Daunt of the Los Angeles Times asked Saban via e-mail about his alleged role, and he wrote back, "No idea."

Harman denies the allegations, and has been all over TV saying so. She's also miffed that apparently her conversations were wiretapped, and she's calling for the release of the transcripts.

But one part of the story doesn't seem to check out. Harman didn't get the Intelligence Committee chairmanship, but Saban has continued to raise money for Pelosi. As Daunt points out, the House Speaker was even at the Sabans home last month for a cocktail reception and dinner for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
