Arnold: Praise for Obama
On ABC's "This Week" this morning, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger praised President Obama. He called his stimulus plan "terrific." He defended his support of tax increases in California, noting that even Ronald Reagan did so, and he signalled that he understood why Obama would want to raise taxes on the upper class. And he expressed support for high speed rail and universal health care.
And he's still a Republican.
He told George Stephanopoulos, "We are elected to be public servants. So what does it matter if you're a Democrat or a Republican? When people need to have roads built, when we talk about infrastructure in America, we need $1.7 trillion to $2 trillion of infrastructure in America. Who cares if you're a Republican or Democrat? Everyone is using the roads. Everyone would use high-speed rail. Everyone uses the infrastructure and all of those things, the schools, the kids."
Schwarzenegger also picks "The Reader" as best picture, praised his friend Mickey Rourke, says he'll do a cameo in Sylvester Stallone's next movie and chooses "The Candidate" as his favorite political film of all time.
