The Threat

Wednesday evening

Truly the most surreal experience for me this week were the reports that three men were arrested in what was initially thought to be a plot against Barack Obama.

One of the three men was arrested at the Cherry Creek Hotel, which is a place that I am familiar with in that it is the very place where I am staying. The man was apprehended after trying to escape authorities early Monday morning by jumping from his sixth floor window. That is a floor I am familiar with too, as it is the very floor I am staying on.

We've been talking quite a bit about this, given that the hotel is where reporters for the Washington Post and Newsweek also are staying.

All of this took place overnight --- I now have to admit my own embarrassment for being fast asleep through it.

It turns out that the threat was not a credible one, authorities announced today.
