Voight: Hollywood Turnout Coming for McCain

238399292_3eef36c75dJon Voight, who penned a Washington Times op-ed on Monday highly critical of Barack Obama, says that John McCain may surprise with an expected unveiling of a list of Hollywood supporters at a press conference in the coming weeks.

Voight said in a statement to Variety, "There is a very large world out there, but Hollywood seems to always get the spotlight. I've been told by many people that they think I'm the lone wolf of Hollywood who is supporting Senator McCain for our next president.

"But that is not true, and I'm proud to report we have many great, intelligent, talented Academy Award winning actors standing by, awaiting a major press conference to show their support for Senator McCain to help bring him into office as President of the United States of America."

Voight, one of a handful of Hollywood figures who switched to more conservative candidates after 9/11, plans to attend the Republican National Convention in September. He's already campaigned for Rudy Giuliani and quickly switched his endorsement to McCain after the former New York mayor dropped out of the race. A spokeswoman for Voight says the press conference in planned for some time in August.

So who else will be on the list? Voight is hardly a "lone wolf," as Oscar winner Clint Eastwood has contributed to McCain's campaign, fellow winner Robert Duvall has endorsed the candidate and nominee Gary Sinise has been at events. But a spokeswoman for Voight says that there will be names that will leave people "very surprised."

Awesome, I was just thinking I could go for some more nonsensical op-eds full of conspiracy theories. Especially if they're entirely free from reality or fact. Those are the best kind.

Damn Hollywood values!!!
