The New "W" Trailer

Oliver Stone's "W" trailer pitches his upcoming George W. Bush biopic as a partly dramatic, partly satirical look at the President, with much of the attention focusing on the partying days of his youth and his rivalry with his father.

Inspired choice: "What a Wonderful World" as the trailer soundtrack.

Knowing Oliver Stone's political views it becomes apparent that it is impossible for him to make an impartial and completely truthful movie about GWB. Our personal POV always taint our actions regardless of our best intentions because it doesn't happen on a conscious level. How many times have you heard about the alcoholic that says 'I don't have a problem.' And why is it the owner of the huge SUV that has "doubts" about the impact of pollution on the atmosphere? We all swing towards own comfort zones. This movie can't help but be bias.

To begin with, I think that it may be a bit premature to start a controversy over a movie that hasn't even been released yet. Let's save our apoplexy for when we've actually SEEN the thing.
Secondly, if Mr. Stone sticks to his current statements and give us a film that deals mostly with our President's early "Yalie" days, and with his rivalry (do I detect an Oedipal note here?)with "Daddy" Bush, I don't see how that could be interpreted as "demeaning the White House or the Presidency". It's about the MAN, not the office.
Or, has America reached the point where the tennant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue can get away with saying, "L' etat [read: Le Maison Blanc], c'est moi."?

Oliver Stone takes the line "based on a true story" to a whole new level with every film he produces. What a clown! I'm not sure who is the bigger charlatan, Stone or Michael Moore.
