A Murdoch for Obama

Matthew Freud, who is married to Elisabeth Murdoch, tells the New York Times not to make too much of his wife's upcoming April 28 fund-raiser for Barack Obama at their London home.

“I don’t think you can interpret the event as anything other than she is enthusiastic about Obama’s campaign,” Freud said.

But nothing quite stirs the pot like the prospect of the Murdochs changing their political stripes. Elisabeth Murdoch's brother, James Murdoch, contributed to Hillary Clinton's campaign in June.

In 2006, patriarch Rupert Murdoch held a fund-raiser for Hillary Clinton's Senate re-election bid. And he also donated $2,300 to her campaign last June, just as several of his lieutenants were actively raising money for her. A News Corp. spokesman at that time said that not much should be read into Rupert's donation, either.

Good point. Murdoch's New York Post endorsed Obama, not Hillary, before the New York primary on Feb. 5.
