"SNL" Writer Says He'd Vote For Obama
Jim Downey, the "Saturday Night Live" writer who has written all of the recent political sketches for the show, tells the New York Times that he would vote for Obama if he is nominated.
“I would imagine that most of the comedy world is for Obama,” Downey said.
The show's head writer, contributed to the Obama campaign.
Downey and executive producer Lorne Michaels denied that the show was biased toward the Clinton campaign, as some have charged. After its Feb. 23 show --- which mocked the preferential treatment that the press has given to Obama --- studies showed that press coverage became markedly more critical of his campaign. "SNL" did two more skits on the campaign, another mocking the debate and another mocking the "3 a.m. phone ad.'
“I’m sensitive to the suggestion that we’re in the service of Hillary Clinton this year,” Michaels said. “That obviously is not the case.” He added, “We don’t lay down for anybody.”

Yeah Lorne....and Sean Hannity isn't biased to ward Bush/Cheney. Give me a break. How about a sketch of other famous wives becoming leaders or pursuing the business their husbands were first in? Like Mary Todd Lincoln being qualified because of her experience as a First Lady. At least the Daily Show had guts to slam her hard before she came on their show.

C'mon. Tina Fey is probably illegally pushing Clinton on the show. Free advertising.

I'm a huge Tina Fey fan, but when she guest hosted recently, she gave a speech on Weekend Update about Hillary with the central premise being, "Yeah she's a bitch, but bitches get things done!" She also mocked the argument that Bill would be a distraction or a problem because it would be great to have two smart and accomplished people in the White House, and finished by saying, "Come on Texas and Ohio, it's not too late!"
I don't think it's crazy to interpret that as advocacy.

I'd care more if SNL was still funny and relevant.

yes, it's true, there's a formalistic balance in the parodies that SNL has trotted out: one week the media's fawning over Obama versus the next, SNL parodied the "3 am" ad, mocking Clinton's experience somewhat. But the "3 am" piece also portrayed Obama as inarticulate, out-of-control, callow and weak. Hard to say that she came out the worse for it, when for two successive weeks Obama is portrayed as a doofus.

SNL versus CNN, MS-NBC, NBC News, CBS, ABC and countless others?
Boo hoo.
Oh, and let me guess. The writers are all "racists" for not falling in line with the rest of the media world and supporting/worshipiing the Exalted Obama.

A truly terrible show. The 3 AM ad was anti-Obama. They made him look like a sniveling fool. It was so far from a realistic depiction that there was no possibility of comedic interpretation. Also, it would be polite to get a black actor to play him, not some guy in a black mask. Especially if you are going to eviscerate him. SNL is really crap. Thank God for Youtube where things can sometimes be funny.

Just because a writer isn't biased, doesn't mean the show as a whole isn't. The Daily Show, for example, makes fun of both Obama and Clinton. Where's the Clinton-only mockery on SNL?
